DUE ITALIAN

An Italian style Ramen.

The name of this restaurant in Shimbashi might not suggest a Ramen place. Just in case some of you aren’t familiar with the term, ramen is a hot savory Japanese noodle soup dish that is considered an easy lunch or dinner in Japan.

KADOWAKI

Finally I got the chance to blog about my most favorite kaiseki restaurant in town, Kadowaki. This is actually my third visit to the restaurant but the first two were rather formal dinner invitations where taking pictures of my food and making notes probably would not have been appreciated.

MAME-CHA

If you happen to be looking for a nice lunch spot in the Yurakucho area, consider dropping by Mame-cha located on the 8th floor of the Lumine department store building. Its located under a cinema and relatively new on this floor.

KOGENTEY

Located in the middle of an upper class residential area, the street leading towards it dark except for the illuminated entrance, Kogentey is a welcomed oasis in the heart of Sakurashinmachi.

SUKIYABASHI JIRO

I guess no blog about food in Tokyo would be complete without writing about this celebrated sushi place. Ever since David Gelb’s documentary film “Jiro Dreams of Sushi ” was released in 2011, the hype of this Michelin 3 star establishment hit a global high resulting in more foreign visitors than local.

SAVOY

I decided to try this tiny pizza place called Savoy today as I was enjoying a leisurely afternoon stroll in Azabu-juban after many wet Tokyo days. A friend recommended this establishment and so I decided to give it a try.

KUNIMOTO

I can finally recommend a yakiniku restaurant for those who zest for beef without being deceived by the seasoning, Kunimoto. It is located a few steps away from Hamamatucho station.

AHILL

  This restaurant calls itself a “French Teppanyaki” restaurant so I was rather intrigued to find out what that meant. Ahill has a branch in nishi-azabu but I visited the one at the Velvia building in Ginza a few days ago for lunch with some friends.

TERRES DE TRUFFE

  Truffles have always held the top spot on my list of favorite foods, right up there next to honey. So when I found this restaurant that serves all things truffles up to its desserts, I was naturally overjoyed.

MERCER BRUNCH.

THE BEST FRENCH TOAST IN TOWN. Brunch everyday is the concept of this cute little restaurant in Roppongi near the Tokyo Midtown establishment. It is relatively new and the cosy design of this establishment has been pulling me in every time I pass by.

DAIGO. VEGETARIAN SPLENDOR.

I’ve heard about this restaurant a lot but haven’t gotten the chance to visit for lunch until a few days ago. Daigo serves pricey ‘shojin ryori’ or ‘monk food’ which is basically vegetarian dishes.

JUBAKO. 200 years of Unagi excellence.

You can immediately sense the vintage vibe upon entering the traditional gates of this restaurant specializing in eel (unagi) dishes. Jubako has a 200 year history, and you can definitely feel it.
